Emerald Bottery fabricates bespoke robots and mechanisms to customer specification. We specialize in adapting open source software and hardware designs to create custom assemblies.
All of our fabrication takes place at Metrix Create:Space on Capitol Hill in Seattle.
Personnel
The founder of Emerald Bottery, Mike has studied philosophy, architecture and computational design. He has built a variety of robots and mechanisms with fellow makers at the University of Washington's Design Machine Group and at Carnegie Mellon's CoDe Lab and Claytronics Group. Some of his projects and publications are listed here.
Mike is dedicated to providing people with the (robotic) tools to take control of the form of their built environment. He aspires to one day escape from basements (although Metrix is in a very nice basement) and live in an open field where his needs will be tended by a bottery.
